PANELES JAPONESES WHITE LOTUS Japan Measurements: VariousMaterial: Cotton on wooden frame Origin: Japan, late 19th century Measurements: 50 cm wide x 200 cm high x 3 cm thick Large format panels that evoke the floating world of oriental theater. Hand painted on cotton, they display a choreography of lotuses among hypnotic swirls, a graphic language reminiscent of Japanese ukiyo e. Their verticality suggests a suspended set design, like a fragment of a curtain or a ritual screen.
